Ron Battema obtained an ASEE and BSEE from the University of Bridgeport, Bridgeport, Connecticut.

 

Experience is as follows:

 

a.         More than twenty-eight year’s experience in the home appliance industry. The primary focus has been floor-care products, but includes experience in motors, flexible wire, cable and power cords, air cleaners, water filters and massage equipment.

 

b.         More than Twenty-eight year’s experience working with Underwriters Laboratories Inc. and Canadian Standards Association on product evaluation and qualification testing.

 

c.         More than twenty-five year’s experience working with international agencies such as TÜV Rheinland, DEMKO, ÖVE and Quality Assurance Services.

 

d.         Oversaw certified test laboratory for UL and CSA client data submittal programs, including UL’s Client Test Laboratory program for third party testing (ISO 17025) for sixteen years at Electrolux.

 

e.         Participant in Supervised Manufacturer’s Testing for TÜV Rheinland and DEMKO.

 

f.          Original vacuum cleaner industry representative on the Bi-National Task Group for the UL/CSA standard, UL 1017/CSA C22.2 No. 243. Past and current chairman of task group.

 

g.         Member of the UL Standards Testing Panel for motor-operated appliances (UL 73), motors (UL 1004), vacuum cleaners (UL 1017), Electric fans (UL 507), Air cleaners (UL 867), plastics (UL 94/746) and UL 1450 (paint sprayers).

 

h.         Member and officer on ASTM committee F11 for Vacuum Cleaners and F40 for Declarable Substances, chairing several task groups and serving as recording secretary on task groups, subcommittees and Main Committee for F11. Received ASTM Award of Merit 2009.

 

i.          Member of USNC Technical Advisory Groups for TC-61 (IEC 60335) and SC 59F (IEC 60312). Chairman-convener of Working Group 3 (dry cleaning performance). Member of Working Groups 4 (wet cleaning performance), 5 (robot vacuum cleaners), 6 (commercial vacuum cleaners) and 7 (Interpretation of Requirements).
